EPFO Auto Claim: On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Union Minister of Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya announced that the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has raised the auto claim settlement limit for the Provident Fund (PF) to ₹5 lakh, up from the previous limit of ₹1 lakh.
This change provides relief to EPFO members who need quick access to funds in emergency situations, according to a PTI report.
Facility Introduced During COVID
The EPFO first introduced the auto-claim settlement facility during the COVID-19 pandemic to enable members to withdraw funds without delay. Now, by increasing the limit fivefold, the organization has given EPF members greater flexibility, making it easier to access funds quickly during medical emergencies.
How to Use the Auto Claim Facility
To avail the EPFO auto claim facility, your UAN (Universal Account Number) must be active. Additionally, your KYC details—such as Aadhaar, bank account number, and PAN—must be updated and verified on the EPFO portal. The reason for the claim, such as medical emergency or natural disaster, should be valid for auto settlement.
Step-by-Step Process:
- Visit the official EPFO website and log in using your UAN and password.
- Go to the “Online Services” tab and click on “Claim (Form-31, 19, 10C & 10D).”
- Verify your bank account and click “Proceed for Online Claim,” then select Form-31.
- Choose the reason, enter the amount, and if required, upload the necessary documents and submit.
- You can track your claim status in the “Track Claim Status” section.
19.14 Lakh New Members Added in April 2025
In April 2025, EPFO added a net total of 19.14 lakh new members—31.31% more than March 2025 and 1.17% higher than April 2024. The Labour Ministry attributed this growth to new employment opportunities, increased awareness about employee benefits, and EPFO’s active promotional strategies.
According to the report, the largest contribution came from youth aged 18 to 25, with 4.89 lakh new subscribers from this group, making up 57.67% of the total new members.
EPFO’s payroll report shows that Maharashtra performed the best nationwide in net payroll additions in April 2025. Additionally, around 15.77 lakh former members who had previously left EPFO rejoined in April.
